The Work Has Begun!!!

Image
Our contractor showed up!!! Our favorite two guys came and worked so hard on the house.  Then they wrapped it tightly in a tarp and took a break during this rainy/windy week!   We are so excited that next week looks like great weather.  We are thankful to get so much done so quickly!   Once the new dormer is built and the new addition dried in, we will work on the layout of the rooms.  We already have plans but can change them to take advantage of all of the room! We also have this huge dumpster right out the back door!  This is the second one!  It's a great time to keep cleaning out the basement and other rooms in the house! Will said he loved the new roof color we chose!  Actually, the tarp has done a great job keeping everything pretty dry! It's so exciting to see the size of the addition - looks bigger than I expected! The back porch has been dismantled.  We are getting all new beams to hold up everything upstairs!  ...

Hopefully the EXCITING NEWS will be here soon! I have not forgotten!

More delays.  Just unbelievable.  But also a HUGE chance to see God work in all of this ~ even the house stuff.  So we will update very soon.  We hope with great news!  We are so close...

Exciting News Ahead...hopefully!

I hope to update this site in the next few weeks to continue on with the house!  Thanks for checking in!  No one has been more anxious to update this blog!

Merry Christmas 2024!

Merry Christmas!  I'll post our Christmas card here for those I missed!  I really need to update my list! I used this scripture passage in the past but felt it was fitting again this year.  As I get older, time is getting shorter.  The ONLY thing that matters in my life is sharing Jesus, pointing to Him, and praying those who don't know Him will come to know Him.  Of course family is important.  Jobs are important.  Responsibilities are important.  However, time drainers and material things are not.  As my brother says about "stuff" - Less is more!  Casting away all of the things that don't matter gives more time for the most important.    We just cannot know how good God is until we realize how bad we are.  All of us.  Every one.  I'm so thankful He saved a wretch like me! May you know the JOY of Christmas as we celebrate, worship, and adore the Savior of the World ~ Jesus Christ ~ the One who loves us most! Pra...

Happy New Year! It sure is cold and windy today!  Sam and I ran to Walmart in preparation for the snow coming Monday or Tuesday!  We moved some boxes of pictures from the garage to the house before we left, so we will have a big project to work on IF it snows here!   I have meant to update this for soooo long.  But time gets away.  We have gotten lots done, and we were able to have a surprise party for Andrew's 30th birthday in December.  Pete started the kitchen backsplash, and that's huge!  It's been so long.  We still don't have a definite date from (anyone?  anyone?) about starting the upstairs, but I trust we can do it in the spring!   I thought I'd most some pictures of what we have gotten done so far!  These above are just a reminder to me of not long ago! Well, I just realized that I need to take more kitchen pictures!  It's been a struggle to get all of the cabinet doors in.  We still don't have all of t...
Just popping on to say I will update this blog soon! We've moved and moved and moved and moved some more!  I worked at my new job, my old job, more at my new job, and finally my last day at my old job.  And that day was just as hard as I had imagined - even after preparing for it for a year!  But as bad as it was, that's a good thing.  Because it means that my friendships and family there are real. At my new job, I have made new friends and work with one of my oldest (and dearest!) friends!  It's a PT office, and how I can sympathize and empathize with patients going through physical therapy!   The house is great.  We are putting up all that we moved that we are keeping and trying to be brutal in getting rid of things we don't need.  While the upstairs renovations will eventually add square footage and storage (in the two bathrooms and laundry room), we still need to downsize what we kept from our big house!  This house is probably...

The Kitchen Install (Most of it!)

We chose white wood Kraftmaid cabinets from Lowe's.  We planned to go to three or four places to compare; but Lowe's had a great designer, Rick, and a huge sale.  We got the cabinets, counter tops, and installation for a lot less than we thought we'd pay.  We have been super happy with their customer service and the people who measured and installed the cabinets!  (Yay for JSB grads!) The kitchen sink cabinet was not made for the apron sink I have, so it was reordered and should arrive soon.   We have purchased the windows and hope to put them in next week.  Pete has all of the electrical and plumbing updated - with a little help!  Our appliances are all in the dining room - which is a huge feat!  Thanks, Dwayne, for helping get that monstrous fridge through the back door! Yesterday, Pete finished touching up the blue ceiling and added all of the switch plates and covers.   Since my pictures are on my phone, computer, and in ...
